CREATING THE ATTRACTANT
For 4 traps the following components are required:

  • 10 ml liquid
  • 2 tablets
  • 200 ml water
  • First dissolve the tablets in 200 ml water.
  • When the tablets are completely dissolved add 10 ml of attractant and mix well.
  • With the solution 4 traps are filled with each about 50 ml.

CAUTION: put all prepared attractant directly into the traps, do not make more than necessary to fill the traps.
- To break the surface tension, a 'small' drop of detergent can be added to the attractant added.

USE FOR MONITORING

  • After they are filled with 50 ml, the traps can be hung at the desired places. Consult with your cultivation supervisor for the best spot. Preferably not in the sun, but under the leaves. In the case of strawberries for example, a stand can be made with a shelter. Make sure the lid of the trap is securely fastened.
  • Check the traps every 1 to 2 weeks. Not later. The liquid remains active for 4 weeks. The contents can be sieved and The liquid can be put back into the trap (after 4 weeks of replacement).
  • Destroy captured flies. Do not just put in the green container, especially if there are fresh flies in it that are not yet are dead and can still fly out.
  • If a fall is completely full within 1 week, we advise you to replace the attractant in its entirety.
  • Recognition that Drosophila suzukii is actually caught can be done by the males with spots on the wings. Females are more difficult to see with the naked eye (see picture).
