Description

SWIRScontrol to control the white fly and thrips

Amblyseius swirskii
SWIRScontrol contains the predatory mite Amblyseius swirskii. This cream-colored predatory mite prefers the not mobile stages of whitefly, thrips larvae and spider mites. Besides thrips and whitefly this mite can also develop on pollen and plant sources such as vegetable saps and will therefore easily settle in the greenhouse. Swirski originates from the Mediterranean area, which explains its well functioning in hot and humid climates.

The appearance of the A. swirskii is barely distinguishable with the naked eye of the A. cucumeris or A. californicus. The predatory mite has no diapause, but in most regular crops it is not active enough during winter. The optimum growth temperature is between 25 °C and 28 °C, and the predatory mite remains active up to temperatures of 40°C. Under these conditions, its total life cycle is around five to six days. The females lay around 2 eggs a day. Below the15°C its reproduction strongly decreases. Temperature and light are important for the development of this predatory mite. A. Swirski is especially well usable from March to September.

SWIRScontrol needs to be used at an early stage of the pest development. The predatory mite can be used in a lot of different crops where there are thrips and white fly. You will find A. swirskii mostly in the top of the plant, where the pests are.

Product characteristics
• Eats thrips and white fly.
• Can be well used from march to September.
• Can be used in many different crops.
• Available in various formulations.

Quality control
At Royal Brinkman, a team of specialists checks the quality of benificial insects, mites and nemotodes. Based on a protocol they work to deliver the best quality to the customers.

Packaging
Amblyseius swirskii is available as loose material in tubes of 25.000 (1 liter) and 125.000 (5 liter) predatory mites. Due to the composition of the carrier material, the spreading can be done by hand, blowing or using the bio-spreader

SWIRScontrol is also available as
• 250 Sachets with a hook (Minimal outcome of 250 predatory mites per sachet).
• 250 Sachets with a hook TURBO (Minimal outcome of 250 predatory mites per sachet).
• 500 Sachets without a hook (Minimal outcome of 250 predatory mites per sachet).

User instructions
Keep the product cool until use.

  1. Allow the product to warm up to (greenhouse) temperature. Prevent too rapid an increase in temperature, this can lead to a temperature shock for the predatory mites. Keep the product horizontal and out of direct sunlight.
  2. Immediately before use, mix the product well. This can be done by gently rotating the bag. Or: sprinkle the contents of the bag in a bucket (>5 ltr) and mix the material in this bucket. By mixing you realize a good distribution of mites in the material and later in your crop (so keep mixing the material during insertion).
  3. Shake out the material in small quantities over your crop or use a spreading system if desired. Avoid contact with heating pipes and CO2 pipes. The degree of application always depends on the pest pressure in the crop, therefore ask the product specialist for the correct dosage.

Receipt and storage
Upon receipt, check the product for abnormalities and report any complaints or comments within 24 hours. Preferably use the product immediately. If storage is required, the product should be stored in a dark place in a ventilated room at a temperature of 15-18°C and a relative humidity of 70-80% for a maximum of 24 hours. If the product is stored longer and/or under different conditions Royal Brinkman is not liable for any loss of quality.
