Description

MONcontrol mix (loose) to combat thrips and whitefly

Transeius montdorensis

The product MONcontrol contains the predatory mite Transeius montdorensis from the family Phytoseiidae. This active predatory mite provides a good control of whitefly, thrips and mites. In addition to this broad diet, it also survives on pollen and can therefore settle in many crops. Adult female mites lay a few eggs on leaf hairs. After 1-2 days these eggs hatch into larvae. This is followed by two more nymphal stages until the adult stage is reached. From the first nymphal stage they are predatory. At 25°C the cycle from egg to adult can last less than 7 days. In thrips control this predatory mite has the advantage over Transeius cucumeris that it eats the first larval stage as well as the second thrips larval stage. Compared to other predatory mites, T. montdorensis is resistant to high temperatures and dry conditions. It also stays active during the winter period at lower temperatures and little light, because there is no diapause.

Product characteristics

  • Eat both thrips and whitefly.
  • Next to the first also the second thrips larval stage.
  • Resistant to high temperatures and drier conditions.
  • Also active in low light (winter).
  • Faster population building than A. cucumeris and A. swirskii.

Combining with Power Food
Power Food contains live mites that are suitable as food for the predatory mite Transeius montdorensis. By systematically feeding predatory mites with Power Food, the predatory mite is able to reproduce and build up a population in the crop, even in the absence of its natural prey. In this way Montdorensis is ready to effectively control thrips, whitefly and spider mites when they appear in the crop.

Quality control
At Royal Brinkman, a team of specialists checks the quality of beneficial insects, mites and nematodes. Based on a protocol they work to deliver the best quality to the customers. Take a look at the quality protocol for predatory mites.

Packaging
MONcontrol is available as a loose material in a tube of 25.000 (1 liter) or a bag of 500.000 (5 liter) predatory mites. In addition, there is a packaging especially for the Chrysanthemum cultivation (5 liters), with an application area of 1750m2.

MONcontrol can also be supplied as:

  • 250 grow bags with hook (minimum result of 350 predatory mites per bag).
  • 250 250 grow bags with hook TURBO (minimum hatch of 350 predatory mites per bag).
  • 50500 mini grow bags without hook (minimum hatch of 250 predatory mites per bag).

Instructions of use
Keep product cool until use.

  1. Allow the product to cool down to (greenhouse) temperature. Prevent too rapid an increase in temperature, this can lead to a temperature shock for the predatory mites. Keep the product horizontal and out of direct sunlight.
  2. Immediately before use, mix the product well. This can be done by gently rotating the bag. Or: sprinkle the contents of the bag in a bucket (>5 ltr) and mix the material in this bucket. By mixing you realize a good distribution of mites in the material and later in your crop (so keep mixing the material during insertion).
  3. Shake out the material in small quantities over your crop or use a spreading system if desired. Avoid contact with heating pipes and CO2 pipes. The degree of application always depends on the pest pressure in the crop, therefore ask the product specialist for the correct dosage.

Storage and transport

Upon receipt, check the product for discrepancies and report any complaints or comments within 24 hours. Preferably use the product immediately. If storage is required, the product should be stored in a dark place in a ventilated room at a temperature of 15-18°C and a humidity of 70-80% for a maximum of 24 hours. If the product is stored longer and/or under different conditions Royal Brinkman is not liable for any loss of quality.
