Beekenkamp Group Project | Water

The water technology installation at Beekenkamp Group

For the Beekenkamp construction project at Beekenkamp Group, it was decided to separate the water flows from the beginning to the end. This should prevent cross contamination between the Breeding and Elite departments. The water system was customized and installed.

The water installation at Beekenkamp

The water installation at Beekenkamp Group is a comprehensive installation. It contains two completely independent water systems. There is one water system for Breeding and one water system for Elite. The water flows are entirely separated, from the company’s entrance to the exit. Inside the 28 grow zones, a variety of water supply installations has been installed.

Overhead irrigation installation in the ebb and flood compartments

High pressure mist system

Double tapwater irrigation systems

Preparation of irrigation area

The water flows to the different compartments are separated from the moment they enter the company and they don't join at any moment afterwards. Each department has a completely independent water supply system.

In the irrigation area, more than 60 suction- and delivery lines have been installed. All delivery lines were executed in HDPE-pipe, as opposed to PVC pipe. All the piping was designed with the utmost precision. As a result, the water units were connected to the underground piping directly.

For the storage of all the different water flows, Royal Brinkman installed sixteen water tanks.

Mounting and installation of water units

The development, design and customization of the water supply units is executed in the Royal Brinkman workshop. After testing and approval of the water supply units, these are installed at the particular project.

A total of six water units were installed at Beekenkamp. The units contain a total of sixteen water pumps and six different kinds of filters. These are used to provide all the different water supply installations with the right type of water required.

Completion of the water installation

All compartments can be controlled individually, from the control panel in the specific greenhouse. Two mixing tank units, two tapwater irrigation units, three pump units, an irrigation unit and an ebb and flood unit were installed to provide all the installations with the right amount of water. All these pump sets were customized, in terms of design, development and composition, by Royal Brinkman.

A lot of attention was paid to the Hygiene protocol. Beekenkamp, for example, opts for the complete disinfection of all water flows by use of UV-disinfection. Apart from that, the water intended for Elite as well as the water intended for Breeding is enriched by oxygen, by use of two Moleaer Nanobubble installations. In addition, different dosing installations are available for adding various agents, to be able to guarantee optimal water quality.
