Description

Borax 11.3% (1050) consists of 11.3% boron. Another name for borax is sodium tetraborate. Boron is useful for several metabolic processes, a stimulator for growth point development and a building block of cell walls and enzymes that regulate cell division.
A balanced supply of boron is important for several reasons, including the fact that phosphate becomes less efficient at lower levels. A lack of boron leads to less cob formation in corn, as well as cauliflower, chicory, potatoes, tulips and peas. Pears and apples are also very susceptible to boron deficiency.

Boron deficiency is best recognized by leaf distortion of the young leaves and deformation of the fruit. Other signs include “heart dry rot,” chlorosis and hollows in the stem. It often occurs in dry conditions, as the boron can no longer be absorbed by the sap flow. The symptoms are similar to those of calcium deficiency in that the lack of calcium affects the plants. Borax regulates the plants' calcium balance. Therefore, the addition of borax can prevent plants from stunting.

Application
Borax 11.3% can be used to prevent boron deficiency in the crop.
