Description

MONcontrol (sachets) to control thrips and white fly

Transeius montdorensis
MONcontrol contains the predatory mite Transeius montdorensis from the Phytoseiidae family. This active predatory mite provides a good control of, among others, whitefly, thrips and molluscum mites. In addition to this broad diet, it also survives on pollen and can therefore establish itself in many crops. Adult female mites lay a few eggs on leaf hairs. After 1-2 days, these eggs hatch into larvae.  Two more nymphal stages follow until the adult stage is reached. From the first nymphal stage onwards, they are predatory. At 25°C, the cycle from egg to adult may take less than 7 days. In thrips control this predatory mite has the advantage over Amblyseius cucumeris that it not only eats the first larval stage but also the second larval stage. Compared to other predatory mites, T. montdorensis is very resistant to high temperatures and dry conditions. It also remains active during the winter period at lower temperatures and low light levels, as there is no diapause.

Product characteristics
- Eats both thrips and whitefly.
- Picks up not only the first but also the second thrips larval stage.
- Good resistance to high temperatures and drier conditions.
- Also active in low light conditions (winter).
- Faster population build-up than A. cucumeris and A. swirskii.

Quality control
At Royal Brinkman, a team of specialists checks the quality of beneficial insects, mites and nematodes. They work according to a protocol to deliver the best quality to the customers.

Packaging
MONcontrol is supplied in packs of 500 breeding bags (minimum quantity of 350 predatory mites per bag). The contents of a breeding sachet consist of various stages of Montdorensis predatory mites, feeder mites and carrier substance (bran). The special formulation in the breeding bag ensures that the right quantity of predatory mites leaves the breeding bag into the crop every week. The bags are equipped with a hook that makes it easy to introduce the predatory mites into the crop. The sachet has holes on both sides so that the predatory mites can leave immediately. MONcontrol is also available as a TURBO formulation: 500 breeding bags TURBO (minimum 350 predatory mites per bag). This formulation ensures that the predatory mites leave the sachet more quickly and enter the crop. MONcontrol is also available in mini bags without hooks as 500 breeding bags (minimum number of predatory mites per bag). This method of packaging is chosen depending on the type of crop. This way a better distribution of predatory mites on the crop can be achieved. Besides bags, Transeius montdorensis is also available as loose material in a tube of 50,000 (1 litre) predatory mites. A tube of 5 litres is specially designed for Chrysanthemum cultivation, with an application range of 1750m2.

Instructions for use
Keep the product cool until use. Allow the product to reach (greenhouse) temperature gradually. Avoid too rapid an increase in temperature, as this may lead to a temperature shock for the predatory mites. Open the box with the bags in the crop. Tear the bags apart along the perforations. Distribute the breeding bags as evenly as possible over the crop. Hang the bags in a place sheltered from the sun. Avoid contact with heating pipes and CO2 pipes. The extent of use always depends on the pest pressure in the crop, so ask the product specialist for the correct dosage.

Storage and transport
Check the product on receipt for deviations and report any complaints or comments within 24 hours. Use the product preferably immediately. If storage is required, the product should be stored horizontally and in the dark in a ventilated area at a temperature of 15-18°C and a humidity of 70-80% for a maximum of 24 hours. When the product is stored longer and/or under different conditions, Royal Brinkman is not responsible for loss of quality.
