End-to-end automation in cannabis production

As the legal cannabis industry continues to grow, so do the number of cultivation facilities across the U.S. With increased competition, cannabis producers are under pressure to create high-quality, unique products while managing costs. Growing and harvesting cannabis is both labor-intensive and expensive, which is why many producers are turning to automation technology to streamline their operations.

End-to-end automation—technology that automates nearly every part of the growing and harvesting process—helps reduce human error, maintain product purity, and improve overall efficiency. This innovation is transforming the cannabis industry, allowing businesses to protect their bottom line while maintaining high standards.

GreenBroz automated cannabis harvesting process
Destemming: the first step in automation
Destemming, also known as "bucking," involves removing cannabis flowers and leaves from the plant’s stem, which are used in most commercial cannabis products. GreenBroz's 215 CannaGin Destemmer can process up to 4 pounds per hour, making it much faster and more efficient than manual destemming. This reduces the time between harvesting and the next step, minimizing the risk of contamination and environmental factors that can degrade the final product.

With adjustable speeds from 0 to 80 RPM, the destemmer allows you to customize the process based on your specific needs. The machine is also easy to clean, with interchangeable stainless steel faceplates designed for different strains or growing methods.
Sorting: streamlining the harvest
Once flowers are destemmed, they need to be sorted by size for efficient processing. The GreenBroz Sorter automates this task, helping you speed up the harvest process and reduce the time flowers spend in less controlled environments. Built from stainless steel and polyurethane, the sorter reduces contamination risks and offers customizable sizing and speed controls.

Unlike other sorters that use vibration (which can damage delicate cannabis flowers), GreenBroz’s system uses a gentle conveyor and band method to protect the integrity of the product.
Dry trimming for consistency and quality
After drying, cannabis flowers need to be trimmed to prepare them for sale. The GreenBroz Model M Dry Trimmer mimics hand-trimming but with greater efficiency and consistency, processing 8-12 pounds of cannabis per hour. Built from surgical-grade stainless steel, the trimmer is designed for easy cleaning and ensures compliance with local regulations. With its gentle trimming process, the Model M helps maintain the potency, shape, and quality of your cannabis harvest.
Precision batching for accurate packaging
The GreenBroz Precision Batcher allows cannabis producers to batch their products accurately and efficiently, with little to no human contact that could contaminate or degrade the products. This device weighs and batches cannabis in accordance with a batch size set by the operator. However, the batch size is just the tip of the iceberg. Users can define custom rules within a batch itself, giving you more control over your end-product. You can define custom rules for each batch, such as including a large "hero" piece and smaller buds, providing a uniform experience for customers.

In terms of the overpack, we can provide case studies from clients who saw their overpack go from 10-12% down to 2-3%. Over $1,000,000 of product, that’s as much as $100,000 going to overpack! That can be the difference between staying in business or having to close shop.

Using patented AirKush technology, the Precision Batcher moves cannabis with gentle puffs of air instead of vibration, preserving the flower’s quality. When paired with the Indexing and Jarring Line, it can package 800-1,000 units per hour, customized to your facility’s unique needs.

Automation in cannabis production isn’t just about efficiency—it’s about consistency, product quality, and staying competitive in a rapidly evolving market. Whether you're looking to scale up or streamline your current operations, end-to-end automation solutions like those from GreenBroz can help you reduce labor costs, improve yields, and maintain the highest quality standards in your cannabis products.
