Cryptolaemus montrouzieri | Natural enemy against wool lice

The Cryptolaemus montrouzieri predatory beetle is the natural enemy to organisms such as wool lice and can therefore be used as a biological pest control method. The adult insect is five to six millimeters in size, has a black cover shield and the rest of its body is brown-orange. The larvae can grow to fourteen millimeters in size and they are covered by a waxy secretion, which makes them quite similar in appearance to their prey.

The release of the Cryptolaemus montrouzieri predatory beetle is best done during a cool time of the day. Ants in the crop can lead to a reduced control effect, because these ants feed on honeydew and thus protect the wool lice from their predators. Release the beetles near the wool lice colonies. Open the container and sprinkle the predatory beetles over the affected plants.

At a constant temperature of 25°C, the females can live for more than 60 days and can lay 120 eggs. Five days after mating, the female lays her eggs in a wool lice colony. The development from egg to adult insect takes about 35 days at a temperature of 25°C.

Always check the product for any problems upon receipt and preferably use it immediately or no later than 18 hours after arrival. If storage is required, the product must be kept dark and horizontal at a temperature of 10 - 15°C.
