Light meters are very important to be able to measure the amount of growing light in the greenhouse. This growth light is an important part of photosynthesis and therefore important for growth. At Royal Brinkman you will find various light meters for professional horticulture.

Light meters in horticulture

Often there is confusion about the concept of 'light' and we do not always know what light does to the crop. Growth light, or PAR light, is important to determine the growth potential of the plant. Growth light consists of different colours: blue, green, yellow, orange and red. In a wavelength range between 400 - 700 nm, grow light is best measured, because photosynthesis is maximal. With red light, the plant absorbs the most CO2, in contrast to blue, where this is much less. Using a light meter you can measure the amount of growing light. When using a light meter during a light measurement you have to take into account several factors: correct position of the light measurement, light meter with PAR sensors, keep the light meter level and mention relevant details and circumstances of the light measurement.
