Description

SWIRScontrol (sachets) TURBO to combat whitefly and thrips

Amblyseius swirskii
SWIRScontrol contains the predatory mite Amblyseius swirskii. This cream coloured predatory mite prefers the non-mobile stages of whitefly, thrips larvae and spider mites. Besides thrips and whitefly, this mite can also develop on plant foods such as pollen and plant juices and will therefore easily settle in the crop. Swirskii originates from the Mediterranean region, this explains its good functioning in warm and humid climatic conditions.

The appearance of A. swirskii is barely distinguishable to the naked eye from A. cucumeris or A. californicus. The predatory mite has no diapause but is often not active enough in regular winter crops. The optimal development temperature is between 25°C and 28°C and the predatory mite even remains active up to temperatures of 40°C. Under these conditions, its total life cycle will be around five to six days and the females lay an average of two eggs a day. Below 15°C, its reproduction deteriorates sharply. Temperature and light are important for the development of this predatory mite.

SWIRScontrol should be used in an early stage of pest development. The predatory mite can be used in many different crops, where thrips and whitefly occur. A. swirkskii is mainly found in the top of the crop where the pests are located.

Product characteristics
• Eat both thrips and whitefly.
• Fast run by TURBO formulation
• Can be used in many different crops.
• Available in various formulations.

Quality control
At Royal Brinkman, a team of specialists checks the quality of beneficial insects, mites and nematodes. Based on a protocol, they work to deliver the best quality to the customers.

Verpakking
SWIRScontrol mini bags without hook are available as 500 breeding bags (minimum result 250 predatory mites per bag). Depending on the type of crop, this packaging method is chosen. In this way a better distribution of predatory mites over the crop can be obtained.

SWIRScontrol can also be supplied as:
• 250 breeding bags with hook (minimum result of 250 predatory mites per bag).
• 250 breeding bags TURBO with hook (minimum result of 250 predatory mites per bag).
• In tubes of 25.000 (1 liter) and 125.000 (5 liter) predatory mites as loose material (for spreading).

Instructions for use
Keep product cool until use. Allow the product to cool down to (greenhouse) temperature. Prevent too rapid an increase in temperature, this can lead to a temperature shock for the predatory mites. Open the box with the bags in the crop. Tear the bags apart along the perforations. Spread the culture bags as well as possible over the crop. Hang the bags in a place sheltered from the sun. Avoid contact with heating pipes and CO2 pipes. The degree of application always depends on the pest pressure in the crop, so ask the product specialist for the correct dosage.

Storage and transport
Upon receipt, check the product for discrepancies and report any complaints or comments within 24 hours. Preferably use the product immediately. If storage is required, the product should be stored horizontally and in a dark place in a ventilated room at a temperature of 15-18°C and an air humidity of 70-80% for a maximum of 24 hours. If the product is stored longer and/or under different conditions Royal Brinkman is not liable for any loss of quality.
