Meet Jan-paul de Wit

‘As a specialist in Integrated pest management, I help and advice growers on how to improve their crops and how to fight diseases, viruses and pests. This is something that affects many growers. That's why I'm on the road a lot throughout the UK to work closely with growers. And the best way to do that is to see the problems for yourself and hear the story of the growers. This way I can see what the damage to the crop is, and what strategy is best to control the diseases and pests as quickly and effectively as possible.’

Fascinated by insects

‘Anyone who knows me well knows that I'm fascinated by insects. That's why this position suits me so well. I can carry out my passion every day and the advantage is that I help growers enormously with it. The biggest and nicest challenge is to show new customers that my strategy works. And that when unexpected circumstances arise, I am able to respond well to them and still ensure that the problem is solved.’

Digital scoutapp

‘One of the projects I am proud to have been able to work on is the development of the digital Scoutapp. This app will provide crop-specific recommendations on diseases, pests and associated control measures based on collected data. A handy and relevant tool that will help many growers in their fight against diseases.’
