Cultivation film is used widely and in many different ways in holticulture. Therefore, there are many types of horticultural films and each film has a different purpose. A film could be used to darken or to isolate a place. That’s why It could be difficult to make the right choice for the right film for your cultivation. Our (product) specialist Crop rotation would like to inform you about the different purposes of film for your cultivation. Because, in the end, you always want the best for your crops, and that includes the right film.
Films for isolation
During the cold winter months you want to save on energy costs. An insulating film is a good solution for this. You can choose between an insulating film on the top of the greenhouse or a film for the side walls. After this you still have some choices
where the factors fluid flow and light play part . A summary of the different types of insulating films can be found below.
Films for on the ground
Films for on the gutter/drain
Films for on the cultivation gutters prevent diseases and plagues from adhering to the gutter. Because of the smooth film the fungi, bacteria and viruses have a smaller chance to grow in the cultivation gutter. The gutter film also prevents roots from
growing way out of the substrate mat where they would have the chance of infecting other plants. A second important advantage of the film is the cleaning of the gutter at the end of the rotation circle. After removing the film, the gutter is still 95%
clean. Only the drain gutters have to be cleaned. This saves a lot of time and labour! Moreover the gutter film provides a longer life time for your gutters.

Films for darkening
Obscure film to dim your greenhouse from light, you can choose a film in the top of the greenhouse, between the wall or the on the facade. There are several choices like white, black or white-black-white. Each crop requires a different film. The blackout films are available in various widths and lengths. Do you require a different size? Cover film seed and cutting trays should be covered with film during the summer. The film is made if non-toxic materials, making it completely safe to hedge. There are two different choices in film: light-reflecting and light-transmitting. The films are available in various widths.
Custom film lengths
Growers want to receive specific measured films more often. This is possible by the different wrapping possibilities. It's important to take the loss of inserting into account when you send us the right measurements. When the film is being rolled out, it will never be as tight as it is on the wrapper. The greenhouse seems to be very flat, but on site it appears that more film is needed, because of wrinkles and inequalities on the greenhouse floor. In reality a 100 meter film is 3% shorter when t's rolled out. Take into account that you always calculate approximately 3% more. (For example, a 100 mtr roll = 103 mtr, a 300 mtr roll = 309 mtr)
