Description

Episyrphus balteatus to control aphids
Episyrphus balteatus from Agrobío contains pupae of the hoverfly Episyrphus balteatus. The larvae of this hoverfly can eat up to 400 - 700 aphids, thus tackling large infestations quickly and effectively. Under the right conditions, the pupae hatch after about 5 days and the first eggs will be laid after 6 - 8 days. Hoverflies are very sensitive to chemicals, so it is advised not to apply chemicals for at least 6 weeks before deployment.

Episyrphus balteatus can be used against all species of aphids and on plants with a smooth leaf surface. However, the plants must produce nectar and pollen to serve as food for the hoverflies.
