Plastic plant stakes

Plastic plant stakes are produced on a large scale in all common sizes from high-quality recycled polypropylene. Consistent dimensions are used and there are no fractures or deformations. To ensure that the poles have the necessary stiffness, a glass additive is also added. This added glass is encapsulated much better than with the known fiberglass stakes. The standard color of the plastic plant stakes is black. The poles are also available in the colors green and brown at an additional cost.

Advantages of plastic plant stakes:

  • Guaranteed mold-free. This also means that you do not have to wait until the last moment to insert the poles;
  • The stakes do not splinter. Employees do not have to worry about splinters, which means that the use of gloves is not necessary. This improves the productivity of the stake placement;
  • Suitable for automatic stake placement. Plastic plant stakes, for example, cause significantly less wear on your machine than fiberglass stakes do.

Split bamboo plant stakes

Split bamboo is natural and solid material. It is characterized in particular by its light weight, yet sturdy quality. Bamboo, unlike plastic plant stakes, is less resistant to moisture. This increases the chance that mold will develop. Fortunately, split bamboo plant stakes can be treated with an anti-fungal agent, which reduces the risk of fungi. The standard color of bamboo plant stakes is white. It is also possible to obtain these in other colors. In that case, the bamboo plant stakes are painted or waxed.

Advantages of split bamboo plant stakes:

  • Natural material;
  • The stakes are sturdy;
  • Light-weight.

Fiberglass plant stakes

The material fiberglass consists of glass threads that are joined together by a kind of glue connection. This processing method is irreversible. In other words: fiberglass plant stakes cannot be recycled, so there is no destination for these products after their lifespan. Fiberglass plant stakes are a lot more flexible than other materials because of the type of material. This reduces the chance that plant stakes will break.

Advantages of fiberglass plant stakes:

  • Very stiff material. This has the additional advantage that you need to use a thin stake compared to the plant, so that it is less noticeable.
  • Fiberglass does not mold.
  • The plant stakes are flexible and therefore less likely to break.

Suitable or not for creating arches?

Both plastic plant stakes and bamboo plant stakes are used for U-arches. The big difference, however, is that a straight plastic plant stake can be directly transformed into a U-arch with the help of connecting pieces. However, this is not the case with bamboo. A straight bamboo stake cannot be bent into a U-arch. However, you can buy this ready-made. Fiberglass plant stakes are not possible to bend into a U-arch due to the processing method (pultrusion).
