How to solve a malfunction of the Priva Vialux

A malfunction may occur in a Priva Vialux system. Most faults are detected by the process computer and reported as an alarm, after which the system switches to the fault phase and (in most cases) stops working. Below you will find an overview of the most common malfunctions of the Priva Vialux and the associated solutions, so that you can identify and solve a malfunction as quickly as possible.

Possible malfunctions of the Priva Vialux

Below you will find an overview of the most common malfunctions. If an "Installer" solution is mentioned, have this maintenance carried out by a certified mechanic. If the installation shows other faults or problems, consult your dealer.

Troubleshooting

In the event of a fault, the Priva Vialux switches to the fault phase. When the fault is resolved, the process always returns to the resting phase. If the production demand is still there and all start-up conditions are met, the process will immediately proceed to the start-up and production phases. Recovery after failure If the standby circuit has fallen out of the power control due to a fault, the standby switch must be pressed to get the Priva Vialux ready for operation again. This is also possible via the control software if the required hardware and software has been implemented.

Safety precautions

During installation, maintenance or troubleshooting, it may be necessary to open the housing of the electrical parts. In this case, observe the following safety instructions:
  • Preferably, the unit should be completely disconnected by removing the plug from the socket or fuses from the fuse group.
  • If it is not possible to disconnect the unit from the power supply, be extremely cautious. Use well insulated tools and do not touch wire ends, connections or electrical components with bare hands. Keep the area dry and make sure there is someone nearby who can look after you. Never work on the UV lamp or in the cabinet of the power control if the power control is not yet de-energized. Software-only maintenance of the unit is not sufficiently safe.
  • When working in the control cabinet, wear a grounded wrist strap. Otherwise, the electronic components may fail due to static electricity.
  • The service wall socket in the control cabinet (if any) may be loaded to a maximum of 1 A. Only equipment marked "SELV" or "Class II" may be connected to it. Only equipment marked "SELV" or "Class II" may be connected to the RS232 ports of the process computer and the lamp supply module.

Dislocation

Possible cause

Solution

The dosage of acid stagnates. As a result, the quartz tube becomes dirtier. Ultimately, this will lead to an alarm because the desired dose of UV-C will no longer be reached or because production will be too low

The storage tank is empty and is not equipped with a minimum level switch

Place a new storage tank. The acid system may need to be vented again

There is air in the suction tube

Installer: Ventilate the acid system

The injection valves are clogged (this can be seen from the leakage of the diverter valve)

Installer: Replace the injection valves and the diverter valve

The dosage of hydrogen peroxide (if applicable) is stagnant. This is shown by periodic monitoring of the water at the inlet side of the UV-chamber (this can be done with an indicator strip)

The storage vessel is empty and is not equipped with a minimum level switch

Place a new storage tank. The suction hose may need to be vented again

There is air in the suction tube

Installer: Ventilate the suction hose

The nozzle in the venturi of the dosing channel is clogged

Installer: Clean the nozzle

The drive water pump (if applicable) is defective

Installer: Replace the drive water pump

The standby circuit of the power control has failed

Possible causes:
• The input voltage has been too high or too low (see specifications), causing the input voltage of the power control to be disconnected
• The UV room has become too hot
• The power supply of the power modules is not present

The power control only starts electrically after the standby switch has been pressed or via the control software (if the required hardware and software has been implemented)
