Twine and jute twine

In horticulture, twine is often used for tying up crops in order to grow the crop in this way. Each crop has its own needs, so the choice of twine or jute twine depends on various factors. For one crop a thicker twine is needed because the fruits are heavy, while for the other crop the elasticity of the twine or jute twine is more important.

Tomato twine

Tomato twine is perfect for high wire hooks. The tomato plant support twine is strong and does not absorb moisture, minimising the risk of twine breakage. In addition, the tomato twine string is extremely suitable for use in free fall, which in turn saves labour. The twine is also flexible and soft so that it does not damage the tomato plants.

Jute twine

Sustainability is playing an increasingly important role in professional horticulture. Many growers still use the non-biodegradable PP (polypropylene) twine. At Royal Brinkman we have developed a good alternative: Jute Cordenka. The jute twine is made of a natural viscose and is therefore completely biodegradable jute twine.

Twine dimensions
The most commonly used types of jute twine and twine for high wire hooks are:
- 1/1000 - 1kg is about 1,000 meters long
- 1/2000 - 1kg is about 1,200 meters long
- 1/5000 - 1kg is about 1,500 meters long

In addition to the thicknesses and dimensions, you can also choose from the colour twine string. Coloured twine is mainly used to hold the sucker or intermediate plantation, so that it is easily identified. Choosing the right twine depends on several factors.
