Twine for trellising your vined crops 

Twine is usually used in the horticultural sector to support the plant and increase its growth. However, not every crop is the same and every crop has its own needs. That is why Royal Brinkman has developed various types of Valent Twine, each of which meets the wishes and needs of the crop. That is why we have various types of twine: 1/1000 (1 kg is about 1000 meters long), 1/1200 and 1/1500. At Royal Brinkman you will find a wide range of greenhouse twine:
  • Tomato twine: tomato plants with a large vine tomatoes can become quite heavy in the high season. That is why it is very important to ensure the twine is strong enough to support the plant. 1/1000 and 1/1200 Valent twine is strong and therefore often used to trellis tomato plants with vined tomatoes. Tomato twine is often used in combination with a high wire hook in commercial greenhouse tomato production.
  • Cucumber twine: cucumbers are also stringed by means of cucumber twine. In the cultivation of cucumbers often 1/1200 and 1/1500 Valent twines are used. However, mostly cucumber cultivation is known as trellising the plant with just twine. More often, growers are using high wire growing method for cucumbers.
Besides tomato twine and cucumber twine, Royal Brinkman also offers various types of twine for trellising bell pepper, zucchini, eggplant and melon. The types of twine vary in thickness and elasticity. Moreover, the twine can be ordered in different colors. Different materials of greenhouse twine

In horticulture, different materials of twine are used. This is partly because there is an increasing focus on sustainability in professional horticulture. The demand for biodegradable twine has been increasing. At Royal Brinkman you will find various types of twine made of different materials. In our assortment you will find among others:

  • Polypropylene twine: conventical twine which is perfect for growing tomatoes, cucumbers, eggplants and peppers. The twine is strong and does not absorb moist, reducing the risk of twine breakage. Polypropylene twine is known as Valent twine in our assortment.

  • PLA twine: also known as Polylactic acid twine, is spun and then twisted, giving it additional strength. PLA twine has a tensile strength of around 29 kg and is not UV-sensitive.

  • Jute twine : is only used in the greenhouse cultivation of beans, melons and cucumbers. Due to the coarse structure, these plants are well capable of growing around the twine. As a result, fewer clips are required, reducing the risk of bending of the cucumber plant.

  • Jute Cordenka: is manufactured from a natural viscose, which makes it fully biodegradable.
