High wire hooks come in different shapes and sizes. There are also different types of tomato twines that can be wound onto the high wire hook. The choice for a type of twine for high-wire hooks is determined by the crop, the maximum plant load and the amount of UV light in the greenhouse. We help you choose the right tomato twine for your hooks.
The most commonly used greenhouse twine
- 1/1000 – 1 kg is about 1.000 meters
- 1/1200 – 1 kg is about 1.200 meters
- 1/1500 – 1 kg is about 1.500 meters

Which tomato twine is most suitable for you depends on your cultivation. The general guidelines are as follows:

For one crop a thicker tomato twine is required because the fruits are heavy, while with another crop a thinner twine is sufficient. Also in one crop the elasticity of the tomato twine is more important than with the other crop. Therefore, always get advise when choosing the right twine, because you do not want to choose the wrong twine and break it halfway through the cultivation! Our specialist will be happy to assist you.

Jute Cordenka twine
Beside the standard twine for tomato hooks, there is Jute Cordenka twine. This is made of on single jute wire and serveral wires cordenka. It's fabricated with a natural viscose, which is completely biodegradable. Jute cordenka is only possible on V-hooks and HD-hooks. The tomato twine has a high break point, but this break point decreases during the cultivation in the greenhouse. Keep this in mind and get some advice about the twine.
